What are the main differences between the Turbotest® and the Turbotest®Up?

The Turbotest®Up not only has a longer lifting stroke, it also offers many other advantages. The double lifting access (on the foot and via the touch screen) gives it better ergonomics. It has an additional operating mode, the “Programming” mode, which allows you to save up to 20 phase formulas. You can also save the position of the tool for better accuracy. Finally, it offers better traceability as well as easier test monitoring thanks to the live display of the monitoring curves on the screen and the USB port allowing you to easily export your data.

Does the Turbotest® laboratory mixer come with accessories?

The Turbotest® is delivered as standard with a shaft and tools. The number and type of tools will depend on the package you choose when ordering.

If you order the Starter Lab Package, you will receive a four-blade axial flow propeller and a radial flow deflocculator turbine.

If you choose the Master Lab Package, you will get, in addition to the abovementioned tools, a rotor-stator emulsifier with its disassembling tool. Only the Turbotest®Up is delivered with an accessory, a temperature probe, that can be directly connected to the machine. We also provide a support to be installed on a beaker to fix the probe during use.

What is the speed range of the Turbotest® laboratory mixer?

The Turbotest® covers a wide speed range from 5 to 4000 rpm. The acceleration ramps can be customized according to the viscosity of the product. For safety reasons, starting is always at 50 rpm.

Which mixing processes with the Starter Lab Package and the Master Lab Package?

The Starter Lab Package is composed of a four-blade axial flow propeller and a radial flow deflocculator turbine. These tools are suitable for dispersion, simple emulsion and dissolution operations. The deflocculator, with radial flow, is efficient for mixing liquid and filled products. Thanks to its high shear rate coupled with its low pumping effect, the deflocculator turbine is ideal for incorporating texturizing/gelling agents and preparing fatty and aqueous phases. The four-blade propeller is recommended for suspension operations and homogenization of miscible liquids. It offers a strong pumping and low shear effect, favoring the product’s circulation during mixing.

The Master Lab Package adds emulsification and homogenization to its process range with an additional tool: the rotor-stator emulsifier. With a very high shear power, the rotor-stator is very efficient for fine emulsions of powders in a liquid phase. The rotor-stator is also powerful enough to emulsify and homogenize viscous ingredients and complex phases.

What products can I make with the Starter Lab Package / Master Lab Package?

The Starter Lab Package, with its tools, allows you to produce a wide range of products such as serums, perfumes, make-up removers, sun oils, formulation of gels, shampoos, ointments…

The Master Lab Package includes all the applications of the Starter Lab Package but can also make complex products such as toothpaste, cosmetic creams, lipstick, foundation or mascara…

Are the Turbotest®Up tools compatible with the Turbotest®?

The tools of the Turbotest® are the same as those of the Turbotest®Up.

Are the tools of the old Turbotest®Evo compatible with the new one?

That’s right! The tools you used with the Turbotest®Evo can be used on the new version. You don’t need to plan to renew your mixing tools if you want to change equipment. The 310 mm shaft of the Turbotest® Evo is compatible with the new generation of mixers. However, the shaft of the Turbotest® Evo in high version is not compatible with the new generation.

Can I, on the same device, use tools adapted to different capacities?

You must select a capacity when configuring your package, but our new generation of Turbotest® can use tools of different sizes.

Can I export the data from my Turbotest®?

With the Turbotest®Up you can monitor your test data in real time on the screen.  It also has a USB port allowing you to retrieve all your data to analyze them on a computer in CSV format.

Are my process parameters transposable for larger-scale production?

The Turbotest® mixer has been designed to ensure the reproducibility of your processes, guarantee the consistency of your tests and facilitate the development of your new products. In addition, the design and parameters of the Turbotest® are consistent with the pilot (Trilab pilot homogenizer) and production (Trimix) ranges. The choice of mixing tool allows a direct calculation of the peripheral speed for industrial scale-up.

Where is the Turbotest® manufactured?

The entire range of VMI equipment is designed and manufactured in France, on our site in Montaigu-Vendée. We believe in sustainable co-development with our customers, being more competitive together, favouring short circuits and reducing our environmental footprint.
